Anyone can search any part of AuthorConnect free. No log-in is necessary. To see all the databanks at one time so you can decide which one to search, open SiteSight™ at the top of the page. The search process is the same for all AuthorConnect databanks, although specific search criteria are different in different databanks. To search a databank such as Long Written Works, do the following:
  1. Click on SiteSight™ at the top of the page to see a map of the entire web site.
  2. Under Registries, find Long Written Works. As your cursor passes over it, you will see search and add/edit. Click search.
  3. Search results for the entire Long Written Works databank will appear. In the left column under continue search, you will see search criteria where you can refine your search by choosing any combination of the following critera:
    1. Type of work.
    2. Title.
    3. Author's last name.
    4. Stage of preparation of the work.
    5. Category.
    6. Key words.
    7. Word string within text.
    8. ISBN Number.
    9. Format of the work.
  4. Select any combination of these search criteria to narrow your search and click continue search.
  5. You will see search results boxes that match your search criteria. Scroll down until you find one that meets your needs, and click on the box to open the entry.
  6. In the opened entry, you will see information about the long written work in the left and center columns. Click on text field buttons such as View Description, View Bio, View Synopsis and View Excerpt to open the text fields and see the full text.
  7. If you want to send a message to the writer about this entry, you must register so you can log in (free), then click on the InterMail™ button.
  8. If your search returns too few search results, reduce the number of search criteria. If your search returns too many search results, increase the number of search criteria.
  9. Key words are effective for searching. If any key word you select matches a key word selected by the writer, you will find that writer's entry. For example, if you seek a book on Alcatraz, select the key word "Alcatraz"and your search results will include Ernest Lageson's books on Alcatraz.
You can also search all the databanks at once by opening the search menu on the right side of the navigation bar. Type in the writer's last name, entry title, or entry number, then click Search.
